Entry requirements

Many of our clients prefer candidates who possess previous experience in a role that had exposure to the Accounts Payable function. Previous experience in accounting software is often a requirement and some clients will seek candidates with specific knowledge in particular software. An excellent Accounts Payable candidate will also have exceptional attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

What could you be doing?

Accounts Payable Clerks typically report to either an Accounts Payable or Finance Manager, and maintains the processing and payments of bills and accounts for the business. Some of their duties may include:

• Process high volumes of invoices
• Coding and preparing invoices for payment and making the final payment run
• Invoice Query Resolution and handling of purchase orders
• Assist with month-end procedures
• Supplier Statement Reconciliations
• Deal with any Accounts Payable queries and other ad-hoc duties

Progression

Although obtaining such a qualification may greatly improve your chance of securing a more senior accounts position, it’s not an absolute requirement as some businesses may consider experience as equally important.
